About Helen Vilenski Psychotherapy
I am a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) and a longstanding member of the Ontario Association of Mental Health Professionals (OAMPH).
I have spent the past 26 years helping clients who struggle with depression, anxiety (including health anxiety), anger, grief, trauma, ADHD, addictions and low self-esteem make meaningful changes in their lives. My job is to guide my clients to understand how past attachment patterns, family dynamics, traumas or adverse events may be impacting current functioning or current relationships, and to teach my clients evidence-based strategies that help them gain control over their symptoms.
Prior to opening my private practice in 2014, I worked the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) for 13 years. I have Masters Degree in Counselling Psychology, completed Post Grad Certificate trainings in Trauma Therapy, CBT, DBT and EMDR (Eye Movement Rapid Desensitization and Reprocessing), and took numerous other short trainings.
Beyond interventions and best practices I feel my greatest strength is the meaningful and lasting connections I make with my clients. I strive to see each of my clients as individuals with unique stories and unique challenges and endeavour to come up with tailored treatment plans to meet each person’s unique needs. I feel truly privileged to be part of my client's journey’s of healing, discovery and growth.
